We're heading up to the Catskills for a weekend of canoeing and camping!

Onteora Lake offers a vast array of recreational opportunities. Our trip will primarily focus on canoeing, and camping, around the two lakes, but one can also hike, fish, swim, or ride the trails.

The lake is situated at the edge of the Catskill Forest preserve, and offers easy access to the excitement of a backcountry experience, without the additional time spent driving through the mountains. The forest is abundant and provides many chances for viewing a diverse selection of plants, and animals. With many layers of history the careful explorer can discover clues to the many stories this land has to offer up.

Note: if you don't have a car, you can take the bus! Take the Trailways bus from Port Authority in NYC and select Kingston as your destination: there is a bus that leaves NYC at 7:00 AM and arrives in Kingston at 9:10 AM. Kelley, our chapter leader, will meet you there to drive you 10 mins to Lake Onteora. Anyone driving directly should plan to meet at the lake parking lot at 9:30 AM. For those taking the bus back, please select the 5:30 PM bus leaving on 7/31.
