Description
UPDATE 4/22/23 8:53AM: Sorry y'all, but the 100% rain has turned into a 100% chance of thunderstorms and high winds. Catch you next month!
Join us for April's monthly campout at Greenbelt Park just outside of DC!
This campground is packed with amenities -- flush toilets, potable water, showers, and a dump station!
More than that, though, Greenbelt Park is a hidden gem and has a ton of trails for you to explore.
I'll be providing your meals for the weekend. That said, feel free to bring your own food, drinks, snacks, etc.
This campground is drive-in and pet friendly, so feel free to bring your furry friends! Pet owners should be prepared to supervise and care for their fur babies in accordance with park regulations.
You can learn more about the park and campground here: https://www.nps.gov/gree/planyourvisit/campground.htm
Tickets are $20.00 to cover the cost of food and campsite reservations.
Interested in getting there by bike? Jun will be leading a no-drop bikepacking trip out to Greenbelt Park, starting at Union Market (1309 5th St NE, Washington, DC 20002). The exact location will be shared with registered attendees closer to the date of the event.
Rollout will be at 11:30am, but I'll be there starting at around 10:00am to meet everyone and grab some food.
We'll hop on to the Anacostia River Trail and take a super leisurely 13-14ish mile ride to the campground. Be prepared to be in the saddle for around 2-3 hours (including breaks).
All bikepackers are expected to ride with a helmet, bring along a flat kit, lights, a lock, and other essentials, and have some familiarity with riding in a group and signalling.
If you are interested but don't have bikepacking experience, reach out to Jun at juniperdarwinyoung@gmail.com directly and we'll get you set up.
We'll ride back to Union Market in DC in the morning, with a rollout of around noon.
