Description

Mark your calendars for an Outdoor Community Gear Swap at Dovetail Brewery in Ravenswood

Join us on Sunday, September 8 in the Dovetail Biergarten – from 1 pm to 3 pm – for a FREE and casual community gear swap. We'll trade gently-loved outdoor gear with other folks who love to hike, bike, climb, paddle, camp, and explore in and around Chicago.

The mission of our event is simple: Clean out your gear closet, avoid trashing gear in the landfill, and “shop” sustainably with others.

WHAT TO SWAP ⛺️

Bring your gently used hiking shoes, tents, climbing gear, backpacks, jackets, yoga gear, headlamps, camp chairs, outdoor clothing, and more – and trade with others in the community.

Only bring items to swap that you’d want to take home from the swap!

We don't want folks trying to swap damaged or too-well-loved gear (aka no stinky hiking boots, please).

HOW TO SWAP 🤝

  1. Register for a free spot on this event page so we know you're coming.

  2. Gather your gently used gear to swap. We recommend a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 10 items.

  3. Check in at the registration table in the Dovetail Biergarten starting 1 pm on Sunday, Sept 8.

  4. Lay out your gear and shop the tables – please, please only take as many items as you brought to swap.

  5. Make friends, chat about the outdoors, and enjoy!

Dovetail Brewing will be open all day for drinks and their brewery is BYO(Food) and dog-friendly outside. There will also be a food truck on site that day to enjoy. Details to come!

*Please note we are not liable for any broken items. The swapper is responsible for checking the functionality and safety of the items before they use them. We are not checking or validating the safety and functioning of the items before swapping.

OUTDOOR COMMUNITY MARKET 🔥

Outdoor groups from around the city will also be tabling during the event – sharing more about their unique communities, what they do outdoors in Chicago, and how to get involved.

Here are some of our favorite local outdoor community groups and organizations – some of which may be at the market!
